Kepler Telescope 2009
We watched the movie Pandorum which reminded us the launch of the Kepler Telescope with the mission of looking for earthlike planets out there in the universe. We landed on the moon in 1969 with over 3 billion in population. In 2009 we had close to 7 billion.

The above chart is the world population from 1800 to 2100, based on UN 2004 projections and US Census Bureau historical estimates. The movie projected over 25 billion in 2153 with food and water shortage problems and in 2174 the battle for earth's limited resources reaches its boiling point resulting in earth's destruction while the spacecraft, Elysium, is in on its way to repopulate human in another planet. This is interesting. What was even more interesting to me was the movie suggested that human on the spacecraft was fed with special enzymes, etc. to help accelerating human adaption in the new planet. But some human was awaken earlier by the ship computer and started to adapt to the ship and become monster-like creature... I have never thought about that possibility of adaption. Another interesting thing was the picture of a man making a perfect shaving with his laser razor.
Over population I believe is always going to be a strong possibility for human in the future. The launching of the Kepler Telescope is more than just to satisfy our curiosity of the galaxies beyond ours. It is our survival instinct for 1000's of years that help us create possible solutions before the coming of future unknown problems. Our mind is adapting quicker than any of our body organ. We are reaching far into the unkown space and time with HOPE.
